SYNERGY LYMPSTONE SUPPORTS-CHURSTON FAT STOCK SHOW
Our vet, Katie Scotter, recently attended the Churston Fatstock Show held at Churston Farm Buildings and supported by Rendells. This show is part of a historic series of Fatstock Shows which take place in South Devon towards the end of the year and in the run up to Christmas. It was lovely to attend and be involved in such a traditional, local event. There was a fantastic display of fine butchers’ beasts and we were proud to sponsor the Champion Beast in Show prize. Well done to all involved and all prize winners with special congratulations to clients, Josh and Barry Quant, of Redlands Farm, for winning Overall Champion with their Limousin heifer.
Lamb Survival Meeting and Survey
Across the practice we have recently held our annual series of Lamb Survival Meetings which is when Team Sheep anonymously present the annual performance data collected from our commercial flocks across the regions. It’s a fantastic opportunity for clients to see how their flocks compare to others, but more importantly how they compare to themselves year on year. An opportunity to work (and reflect) ON the business, not just IN the business.
This year the meetings also covered the Animal Health and Welfare Pathway funding and how you could most effectively use the money and the very topical Bluetongue disease.
Vets Lorna Pillar and Beth Tamblyn attended the meeting held in Honiton with the vision to roll the Lamb Survival Survey out across our Lympstone regions in 2025. Our vet team will be in touch with you to see if you’d like to take part in due course, but if you’d like any more information in the meantime, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
We’re also excited to be rolling out our Flock Health Packages across the region in the near future – so watch this space for lots of brilliant sheepy stuff!!
Youngstock Course
At the end of November vets Beth Tamblyn and Ellen Taylor delivered our Youngstock Rearing
Foundation Course out of Lympstone for the first time and it was a great success. This course has been running for several years now out of our Rampisham site and is popular with team members new to calf rearing, or those just wanting a refresher. The course is partly classroom based with some practical on-farm elements too.
To see the full list of courses please take a look at the Training Courses page Courses and Events for Farmers – Synergy Farm Health. We will be offering more of these out of our Lympstone Office in 2025, however if there is something you’re particularly keen for, please let us know. Or perhaps you would like a bespoke, on-farm training session tailored to your own staff’s needs? Speak to your vet or call the Lympstone Office 01392 347240 for more details.
