Summer Beef Meeting – Corfe, Dorset. Sponsored by Norbrook
Join our Beef Vets for our Farm Meeting, Kindly hosted by Jake Hancock, Wessex Conservation.
Jake and Chrissy Hancock are tenant farmers operating mostly in south east Dorset. Until recently Jake managed Devon Cattle at Hartland Farm on behalf of the National Trust. This has now become a tenancy and grazing licence with Jake and Chrissy now owning the cattle, and amalgamating with their own pedigree Red and Black Angus enterprise. Jake will share his successes and more challenging moments as he starts to develop this new herd into a sustainable and productive suckler beef enterprise within a landscape managed primarily for nature conservation. This promises to be a fascinating farm walk encompassing calving management, disease control, breeding decision making and there will also be an opportunity to see conservation grazing in action on the “Purbeck Heaths National Nature Reserve” that these cows call home.
Starts at Hartland Farm.
